Our City Launches Multi-Department Collaboration to Upgrade Emergency Support System: Emergency Pods and Shelters Strengthen Protection for Lives and Property
Recently, the Emergency Management Bureau of our city, together with departments including housing and urban-rural development, and civil affairs, has launched a special campaign to optimize the layout of emergency pods and upgrade the functions of emergency shelters, further consolidating the defense line for the safety of citizens lives and property. Focusing on the goal of rapid response and efficient risk avoidance, this campaign has added 12 intelligent emergency pods in densely populated areas such as old residential communities, large commercial districts and transportation hubs in the urban area. Each pod is equipped with emergency lighting, food and water reserves, first-aid kits and other supplies, capable of accommodating 50 people for temporary shelter at the same time. It is also equipped with a one-click emergency call system, which can connect to the municipal emergency command center in real time. For the existing emergency shelters, staff have focused on upgrading the ventilation, fire-fighting and material management systems, added life safety channel signs in 15 community emergency shelters, and organized residents to conduct emergency evacuation drills. I only knew there was an emergency spot in the community before. Now after the on-site drill, I can find the safe area faster when an emergency occurs, said Ms. Wang, a resident who participated in the drill. A person in charge of the Municipal Emergency Management Bureau stated that in the next step, the city will continue to improve the linkage mechanism between emergency pods and emergency shelters , and enhance citizens awareness of emergency risk avoidance through a combination of online publicity and offline training, so as to extend safety protection to more areas and effectively safeguard the lives and property of the people.
